Advanced Planning Tips & Secrets

As necessary as it is to begin planning in advance, some tasks, such as cleaning the house, just can't be done that far in advance. The question is which items can be taken care of a head of time to help avoid that last minute rush to get ready? Below are a few helpful hints on what you can tackle during those weeks before your party.

1. Time to get the holiday decorations from the closet . Replace, repair or purchase new decorations as necessary.

2. If you are thinking about to rent chairs, tables or serving dishes, do so as soon as possible. This will save you last minute worry and the aggravation of running around looking for linens

3. Clean out the coat closet to make room for your guest to hang their coats or bags.

4. Prepare and freeze food in advance. Remove from the freezer a day or so before the party to allow food to thaw.

5. One of the greatest ways to reduce stress is to hire someone to take care of the things you really don't like to do. For example, if you don't want to clean the house, hire someone to come in and clean. There are even personal shoppers if you need a little help either shopping for gifts or for the party itself.

The simplest method to reduce party planning stress is to ask for help. Have a friend arrive a half hour early to help you with last minute details or to greet guests as they arrive. You really don't have to do it all yourself to be a success.
